Basketball news is one of the most popular sports news in the world. Many professional, as well as unprofessional teams are trying to raise young sportsmen, eager to play basketball. This game has its own very high demands: it is important to stay in good physical shape, devote your time to daily practices. Basketball, unlike other sport games, demands tall players. Naturally, this demand has its own reason – it is easier to access the hoop, if you are tall, and it is also easier to hit the target. We must ask ourselves, whether the player’s height plays a crucial role in the game.

There are many people, whose height is not above average, but they nevertheless want to play basketball. They read articles about basketball, watch basketball TV, read the sports section and pay special attention to basketball games. They never miss a single basketball game on TV and discuss the results of every game with friends. What chance do they have to play serious basketball?

As a matter of fact, basketball needs technique not less, but even more, than height. A good basketball player needs, first and foremost, a good technique, which includes an ability to think and decide upon the right moves, good eye-hand coordination and swiftness. A good player should know how to move, run and through the ball, but he doesn’t need to be the tallest, in order to succeed.

The smallest player in the history of basketball was an American player Tyrone Muggsy Bogues. Even though his height was only 5.3 feet, Tyrone became a professional basketball point guard in NBA. He left professional sport after playing for five teams during his fourteen’ season career. Tyrone has proved that it is possible to succeed in basketball, even if you are not as tall as other players of the team.

Even though height is important in basketball, it doesn’t serve as a most important criterion. The most important of all criterions is a good technique. The most important thing about basketball, as in any other game, is playing and winning; it is important for the player to remember, that good technique brings success.

Basketball fans keep them selves constantly updated in Basketball coverage of their favorite team and basketball players.

What do the Best Basketball Camps Have in Common?

There’s an old saying in basketball that teams are made in the winter and spring, but players are made in the summer.

Right now, basketball players all across North America are making plans to spend their summers working on their games.  Some will spend it in the gym, others in the driveway or the park, and some may attend a basketball camp or two.  But with a limited time to work on their game, and hundreds of options to choose from, how does a player find the best basketball camp for their own personal development?

Here are 3 things that we’ve found can make or break your basketball experience this summer:

1)    Local College vs. Brand Name:

Most local colleges and universities have their own summer basketball camps, but they’re not the only game in town.  The best basketball camp for you may be a brand name basketball camp that happens to be running a session in your neck of the woods.  Camps like Five Star, Point Guard College, and Hoop Group have sessions that run out of local high schools and colleges all the time, so make sure you take a look at what’s coming up in your area beyond the local options.  The best basketball camp for you may be IN your backyard, not FROM your backyard!

2)    Player Exposure vs. Player Development:

Players go to different basketball camps for different reasons, so finding the best basketball camp for you largely depends on what you’re looking for.  Some camps like Five Star and ABCD tend to attract players looking to get noticed by college coaches and AAU teams, and therefore have more games being played throughout the day.  Other campes like Point Guard College and Hoop Group develop players by offering significant instruction beyond the hardwood.  The best basketball camp for you may largely depend on whether you’re looking to get better faster, or get noticed faster.

3)    On Court vs. Off Court Development:

The best basketball camp for you may not spend all their time on the court doing drills and playing games.  These days, the top basketball camps out there also offer video analysis, leadership training, and breaking down basketball related concepts in the classroom setting to develop a player’s mind and leadership abilities off the court.  With so much of the game being mental, it’s important to consider the value of spending time learning how to think the game and not just how to play.  The best basketball camp for you may offer more of the latter.

Summary:

As you plan for another summer on the hardwood, think hard about your options for how you’re going to spend your time.  If attending the best basketball camp is part of your skill development approach, make sure you take a few of these thoughts into consideration so you can get the best experience possible this summer.

There youth basketball games, hockey games, all sports. How much should I charge the parents. For some people I will be doing highlights, for some people I will just record the seasons for them, and clean them up in the editing rooms. How much per game or season, is $20 a game too much?
